The operating principle of the electric slug fence is simple. When a slug touches the wide conductive tape connected to the energiser, it receives a deterrent electrical pulse that prevents it from crossing the barrier and reaching protected plants.

• Clip connectors, 4 pcs. – used to connect the power cable to the electric fence tape.

How to Install an Electric Slug Fence – Step-by-Step Guide

1. Mark out the protected area – define the boundaries of the raised bed, flower border, vegetable garden or other area you want to protect.
2. Install wooden posts or boards – position wooden stakes or edging boards around the protected area. They should generally be spaced approximately 1–2 metres apart.
3. Attach the insulators – fix the electric fence tape insulators to the posts or boards. Position them approximately 2–4 cm above ground level.
4. Install the conductive tape – thread the special 40 mm tape through the insulators and keep it evenly tensioned around the protected area.
5. Connect the power supply – connect the energiser to the tape using the supplied cable. Connect the two upper conductors in the tape to the positive terminal (+), and the two lower conductors to the negative terminal (−). This creates an effective electrical barrier that activates when a slug bridges the conductors.
6. Test the system – switch on the energiser and check that the electrical pulse is active along the entire fence line. When slugs attempt to cross the barrier, the pulse discourages them from continuing toward the protected plants.
