Feeders for poultry
In poultry farming, troughs and hopper feeders made of metal or plastic are widely used. The size and type of feeder should be selected according to the size and number of birds. The feeder should be properly selected for the amount of food consumed by the birds, so that they have constant access to fresh food.
Starter feeders for chickens
For chicks, trays, troughs or small hopper feeders with a low edge of the trough are dedicated – the so-called starter ones, so that chicks from 1 day of age can easily take food in the form of crumble. As the birds grow, they should be replaced with larger ones.
Feeders for chickens - application
Poultry feeders should be replenished every few days so that the birds have access to fresh feed in the trough at all times. Thanks to this, the breeder is exempt from the constant work of adding feed. An interesting and practical solution is to hang the feeders, protecting against contamination of the feed in the trough. Another solution are hopper feeders with the possibility of buying legs, thanks to which the trough is set higher above the ground.
Quality
Feeders for chickens and ducks should be resistant to harsh weather conditions and mechanical damage, as they are very often used on outdoor runs. Feeders for backyard poultry should be easy to wash and disinfect – remember about these activities, because they protect against the development and spread of pathogenic viruses and bacteria.
