Applications of Hydrated Lime Paste

Whitewash lime is a versatile product suitable for a wide range of agricultural and construction applications, including:

• Masonry mortars and plaster mixes, improving workability, flexibility, and adhesion.

How to Use Hydrated Lime for Whitewashing

This hydrated lime paste can be applied directly as a paste or diluted with water to prepare limewash. The thick consistency is ideal for mortar preparation, while for whitewashing trees, walls, chicken coops, and farm buildings, simply mix with the appropriate amount of water using a manual or electric mixer at low speed until a smooth, even consistency is achieved.

Is Hydrated Lime Corrosive?

Yes. Hydrated lime is a strongly alkaline substance. Always wear suitable protective gloves (rubber or nitrile), long-sleeved clothing, long trousers, and safety goggles when handling or applying the product.

What Is the Difference Between Quicklime and Hydrated Lime?

Quicklime (CaO) is highly reactive and generates significant heat when mixed with water. Hydrated Lime (Calcium Hydroxide – Ca(OH)₂) is produced by adding water to quicklime, making it safer, easier to handle, and suitable for whitewashing and agricultural applications.

Drying Time

Under normal room temperature conditions, hydrated whitewash lime typically dries within 12–24 hours. In humid environments, allow at least 48 hours for complete drying.
