How to Install an Electric Fence for Otters

When building an otter electric fence, pay particular attention to the power of the energiser. For effective predator deterrence, an output energy of at least approximately 3 J is recommended. A sufficiently powerful pulse helps discourage otters and other animals from crossing the barrier.

Stored energy is also important because it helps maintain effective fence performance in demanding conditions, including damp ground and vegetation touching the conductor. The Voltago energiser is a suitable choice for powering an electric fence around a fish pond.

The conductor should be clearly visible, which is why bright orange polywire is recommended. Install the fence on approximately five horizontal levels.
