The product is administered to birds through drinking water, helping ensure even consumption by the entire flock. One 5-litre bottle of Drink Ex-Mite is sufficient to prepare up to 1,000 litres of drinking water.

Why are poultry red mites dangerous?

The poultry red mite, also known as Dermanyssus gallinae, is a serious problem in poultry farming, particularly during the warmer summer months. The parasites reproduce rapidly and can be difficult to control. When eliminating red mites from a chicken coop, it is important to act quickly and effectively in order to interrupt the parasite’s life cycle. An infestation can cause numerous problems, including restlessness, stress, reduced egg production and, in severe cases, increased mortality within the flock. Drink Ex-Mite is a proven drinking water supplement for poultry red mite control.

What should be used for poultry red mite control?

When red mites are visible inside the chicken coop or on the birds, or when the behaviour of the flock indicates the presence of parasites, an effective poultry red mite treatment such as Drink Ex-Mite should be used. The supplement is administered in drinking water for 7–10 days.

Red mites feeding on the birds ingest the active plant-based substances together with the blood. This disrupts their normal biological functions, preventing them from returning to their hiding places and continuing to reproduce. The product helps interrupt the life cycle of the poultry red mite, supporting control of the entire infestation rather than only the parasites that have emerged from cracks and hiding places. The supplement is safe for poultry when used as directed, and no withdrawal period is required for eggs or meat.

HOW TO USE DRINK EX-MITE

• Administer Drink Ex-Mite in the birds’ drinking water for 7–10 days at a dosage of 5 ml per 1 litre of water.
• Poultry red mites feeding on the birds ingest Drink Ex-Mite together with the blood.
• After ingestion, the supplement disrupts the parasites’ essential biological functions, preventing them from returning to their hiding places. Instead, they accumulate in easily visible areas of the chicken coop.
• The ingested blood coagulates inside the mite, its digestive system is disrupted and the parasite is unable to continue reproducing.
• The parasites become dehydrated and die. Their clusters can then be easily identified and removed from the poultry house, making it easier to maintain hygiene and control the infestation.

DRINK EX-MITE ADMINISTRATION SCHEDULE

The poultry red mite drinking water supplement should be administered for 7–10 consecutive days and then 1–2 times per week to help maintain the effect. Do not mix the product with other preparations, including antibiotics, vaccines, feed supplements or liver tonics. Allow an interval of approximately 3 days between products. For effective absorption and optimal performance, the birds should have a healthy, properly functioning liver.

• Poultry – dissolve 5 ml in 1 litre of drinking water,
• Pigeons – dissolve 2 ml in 1 litre of drinking water,
• Canaries and parrots – dissolve 2 ml in 1 litre of drinking water.

IMPORTANT: Do not use Drink Ex-Mite at the same time as our poultry red mite repellent products, Aqua EX-MITE or Spray EX-MITE, as this may significantly reduce the effectiveness of Drink EX-MITE. These products work in different ways and should not be used simultaneously.
