How to fight with redmite?

Chicken bird dermanyssus gallinae is a well-known problem found on poultry farms and home chicken coops. Chicken bird is not easy to exterminate. For several months, it can be dormant, without food in the form of bird blood, waiting for the right moment to start the breeding process and subsequent invasion. It feeds only at night, and during the day it hides in inaccessible crevices of nests and livestock buildings. In chicken coops heavily infested with the parasite, it is required to use special preparations to combat chicken tarantula. The best option for getting rid of chicken tarantula will be spraying the chicken coop with a special preparation.

Chicken bird – combating lice in poultry

In the first place, it is best to clean the entire chicken coop from litter, dust and other impurities. You can use a vacuum cleaner or compressed air for this purpose. It is worth using means to combat the tarantula, but at the same time safe for animals. To effectively get rid of the tarantula, it is necessary to thoroughly spray all the elements of the chicken coop – walls, soil, roofs, and above all all all the crevices and cracks loved by the chicken tarantula. To ensure the long-term effect of the means, spraying on the tarantula should be repeated two or three times at intervals of 7 to 10 days. Then you can be sure that all parasites from the chicken coop will disappear and the hens will be safe. It is also advisable to consult a veterinarian and use appropriate vitamin supplementation to support the immunity of weakened poultry.

Chicken tar mite is considered one of the most dangerous bird parasites in Europe, as it has an effect on poultry fever. Combating chicken tarantula is crucial to get good production results.

Seallen bird development

Development of the tarantula Development of the tarantula
  • One hen can host up to 500,000 chicken birds, so it can lose up to 5% of its blood overnight.
  • In turn, 5,000 tarantulas feeding on one chicken can reduce its weight by up to 1 g per day.
  • The life cycle of a chicken bird lasts from 7-17 days, depending on the temperature and humidity of the environment

High reproduction, rapid stage of development of tarantulas and serious harm to the population of all poultry, young birds, animals and even humans make it necessary to combat it.

Effective means to combat chicken tarantula

Harminix Red Mite Harminix Red Mite

HARMONIX RED MITE is a water-soluble preparation with a physical and mechanical mode of action. Recommended especially in the fight against the invasion of chicken tarantula, it also neutralizes other running insects. The preparation is intended for use in poultry farming and rearing rooms. Importantly, it can be used in the presence of poultry.

Harmonix® Red Mite is an insecticide without active substance, containing cellulose polymer in a high-quality solvent (isopropanol), widely used in the food industry. The preparation for chicken tarantula acts as a sticky trap. In contact with tarantulas, it produces a concentrated layer that irreversibly immobilizes parasites, as a result of which they die.

The ingredients contained in the preparation penetrate through the layer of dust and dust. Harmonix® Red Mite is a flexible preparation that can be used as a stand-alone treatment to combat chicken tarantula or alternately with other conventional insecticides.

It can be used at any stage of building bird populations:

  • Before introducing a new batch of poultry,
  • When observing the first signs of parasitic infection in birds in the growth phase (safe, can be used in the presence of chickens, turkeys or other birds)
  • After emptying the cages or chicken coops during cleaning.

The preparation for chicken tarantula does not affect the formation of chemical resistance to active substances, so it can be used for repeated spraying in the fight against mites. Harmonix® Red Mite is an ideal preparation for egg and meat poultry producers conducting organic breeding. Due to the limited residue of chemical components, they do not have to worry about contamination with pesticides.

Advantages of using Harmonix® Red Mite in the fight against chicken tarantula:

  • Reduces stress and aggression among birds,
  • Reduces the transmission of pathogens and diseases,
  • Improves the quality of eggs and meat,
  • Increases the productivity of breeding,
  • Improves conditions for physical growth,
  • The hygiene and safety of birds is increasing.

dosage

  • Apply the agent for chicken birds in the form of surface spraying using a suitable mechanical, electric or motor sprayer that creates a coarse spray. Spraying is directed to clusters of tarantula and crevices and gaps, where pests accumulate.
  • 1 L of Harmonix® Red Mite + 7.5 L of water per 200 m2.
  • Absorbing surfaces require a higher dose of the preparation,
  • It is recommended to re-apply Harmonix® Red Mite after 7-10 days from the first application or at the time of the reappearance of the chicken bird.

Mechanical ways to combat chicken tarantula

A popular home remedy in the fight against chicken tarantula is the use of diatomaceous earth (amorphous diatomite). The action of diatomaceous earth is a purely mechanical process, so when using it there are no side effects. This is a natural and effective sprinkle against fleas, mites, lice, bedbugs and other parasites living in birds.

Diatomaceous earth per bird

diatomaceous earth diatomaceous earth

The natural shape of the crystalline diatomaceous earth and its microscopic, sharp edges damage the shells of the chicken tarantula, leading to its death. The high absorbency parameter of diatomaceous earth, in turn, causes drying of eggs and larvae of chicken tarantula, by reducing humidity and blocking conditions conducive to the reproduction of parasites. Due to the crystalline structure of diatomaceous earth, care should be taken and its long-term absorption by humans should be avoided.

There are several ways to apply diatomaceous earth:

  • spreading it directly onto the litter and poultry in the hen house. In this way, we provide the hens with the so-called dry bath. Particular attention should be paid to the head, necks and wings of birds, because this is where the tarantulas are most often located. In order for the product to be effective, the birds must have direct contact with diatomaceous earth. Birds can rub against dry soil, left in special containers, thereby eliminating the birds attacking them.
  • Diatomite can also be mixed with water and sprayed in the hen house. This process should be repeated from 1 to 3 times, at intervals of several days.
  • Breeders also paint the walls with a suspension of diatomaceous earth and water. The preparation will remain on the walls after the evaporation of water, preventing further development of the tarantula.
  • Diatomaceous earth is also added to the feed, thus improving the work of the digestive system of birds and cleansing from parasites, m.in chicken tarantula.

Diatomaceous earth used in the fight against chicken tarantula is safe for birds, because it is a 100% natural preparation. Thus, eggs and meat obtained in the process of poultry farming do not require a withdrawal period and are safe for humans.
