Fighting martens

In the event that the problem of the marten has already occurred, the marten has already settled permanently in our attic - the effectiveness of scarers drops sharply.

Traps for martens

Live traps are currently the only 100% effective solution to the marten problem. In the case when the marten nested in our attic, only capturing it guarantees getting rid of the problem. Most often, the capture of one individual results in moving out of the property of the whole marten family. A viper-catching trap for a marten, in order to be effective, must be characterized by several features. The shape of the latches, the format of the cage and the precision of the mechanism are important. Two-entry traps - through with a release mechanism in the middle of the trap - work best. However, there is no reason not to catch the marten in trap 1 entrance, but it is important that it is well made.

How and where to set a trap for a marten, what bait to use

A trap for martens is best set near the places where they stay, in places where they often pass. Often you can observe feces, which are the best clue. The traps can be placed against the wall, on the ground, on the structural elements of the roof truss, etc. If we have a problem with a marten in the attic, it is good to set a trap there. Setting traps outside buildings is associated with the risk of catching cats, hedgehogs and other predators that do not harm us. It is worth remembering the rule that we will not catch a marten if there is already a caught cat in the trap, because tentany traps also work very well as pupki for catching cats. The best bait is a raw egg whole from a domestic hen still with the smell of a chicken coop, in winter when the egg can freeze it is worth using a chicken leg or wing from a butcher's shop. remark! Marten scarers

Repelling martens is an effective method provided that martens have not yet settled in our country. If we noticed that the marten began to haunt our property, it is worth putting on a scare. In the event that the marten in our attic has given birth to cubs - we will certainly not chase it away with a repeller. Strallers should be worn in cars, under the hood.
