The use of wood chips from deciduous trees acts as thermal insulation in the dovecote, which is especially important in the cold seasons, in the case of concrete floors. In addition, wood chips do not produce any dust at all, after pouring out from the bag and during the use of the litter, there is no dust in the air, dustiness in the aviary or dovecote is significantly reduced, and the pigeons stay in a clean room, safe for their health. Wood chips - what is pigeon litter made of?

Wood chips, i.e. litter from deciduous trees, comes from trees such as alder, oak, beech, birch, and its humidity ranges +/- 10%. Wood chips from deciduous trees do not secrete resin, as in the case of coniferous trees, so they will not stick to pigeons' legs. Wood chips are made from real trees, not from furniture production waste, thanks to which they are free from glue, varnishes and other chemicals. Thanks to thermal treatment at a temperature of 400^oC, pigeon chips are completely free from bacteria and fungi. Wood chips for the dovecote have different shapes, but the average fraction of wood chips is about 25 mm. Dry litter in the dovecote is very important for the health of the birds, and the life of the wood chips can be extended by applying dry disinfection agents to the bottom, such as Sandezia.
